Gymnastics Newsletter and Meet Information - 2018


Dear Parents and Students;


Please keep this information sheet to refer to for any questions you might have about the upcoming Gym Meet.


Our Gym Meet called “A Day At The Castle” is being held June 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Quakertown Christian School Gymnasium located on 50 E. Paletown Road, Quakertown.  It is mandatory that all gymnasts arrive at the gym at 9:30 sharp for the show.  It is important that they are not late because they need to warm-up and stretch.  Girls should be wearing their show leotards and the boys should wear their shorts and t-shirts.   Hair should be in a medium high ponytail with the matching scrunchie.  No hair clips or barrettes will be allowed.  Also NO UNDERWEAR should be worn under the leotards.  Boys should wear briefs under their shorts – no boxers.  Makeup for gymnasts is optional, except all gym team members.  There is no gum, watches, or jewelry allowed.  Your child may bring a water bottle but PLEASE PUT HIS/HER NAME ON IT.


Our gymnastic meet dress rehearsal will be held on June 1ST at Quakertown Christian School in the gym beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. Please arrive at 5:15.  Students should come in sneakers and comfortable clothing to the rehearsal.  No leotards are necessary except the B.S.E. gym teams. Any student performing a solo or duo must come with their costume for rehearsal.  The rehearsal should last approximately 1 hour so please return at 6:30 p.m.  There will be a sign up sheet posted in Studio III (Perkasie) for volunteers to help at the concession stand, and various other duties.  


The show will last approximately 2 hours.  Students will participate in 4 events: bars, floor, beam, and vault.  Copies of the routines have been sent home with the students and they should be memorizing them.  If you do not have a copy please get one when you come to class.  Students will be judged on all four events and will receive a ribbon for each event.  Scores will not be shown.  All gymnasts must stay until the end of the show. At that time each student will receive a medal, so have your cameras ready.  You may video tape or take photos during the event, as long as there is no flash photos.  Please be considerate of other parents at the show when video taping or taking pictures.   No Photos Can Be Taken On The Gym Floor, Only From The Sidelines.   Flash photography can be dangerous to gymnasts on equipment.


All gymnasts will receive their ribbons the week of June 11th during their gym class.  There will be no exceptions.  It takes time to divide the ribbon envelopes and placement for next year's classes will be done during that class. The last gymnastic class will be June 14th.


In order to cover the cost of the gym rental, ribbons, medals, coaches and judges, we will have a ticket fee of Adults - $12 and children 11 and under $8, for advanced sales.  We suggest that you purchase tickets early.   Tickets will be sold at the door; Adults - $13 and children 11 and under $9.  There will be an area for handicapped access.


When you arrive at the gym, there will be someone at the door to tell you where to take your child.  Students must go to the gymnast's area.  They are not allowed to sit with parents and parents are not allowed to stay in the gymnast's area with students.  


At the close of the show, the students will remain on the floor in their squads and parents must come down to the floor to get them.  No student will be released until their parent comes for them, so do not make arrangements to meet.  The squad leaders will not let them leave without a parent.


All tuition for the year, including June is due the first week of May.  You may not receive the tickets for the show until tuition is paid up for the year.  Classes will continue until June 14th. There will be no classes held Memorial Day Weekend, (Thursday, May 24; Friday, May 25; Saturday, May 26) and Saturday June 2, (due to the gym show).  Please attend assigned make-up times NOW to perfect recital routines.  Anyone who needs to do a make-up class due to illness, snow, or Easter holiday must sign up in Perkasie Studio.


MAKE-UP TIMES ARE AS FOLLOW:

Pre-school, Kindergarten classes: Tues. 6:30 P.M., Tues. 10:00 A.M., Sat. 10:00 A.M.

Novice- Intermediate Classes: Tues. 5:30 P.M., Thurs. 6:30 P.M.

Intermediate - Advanced Classes:   Thurs. 7:30 P.M.

Gym Team Auditions will be held Thursday, June 14th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in our Perkasie studio. Any interested student, age 6 years and up, needs to come to audition for the gym teams. All former gym team members need to audition.


Enrollment forms for next year are attached.  Please return them as soon as possible.  Thank you!
